For entertainers and hosts, having a secondary sink not only improves workflow but helps any party flow smoothly. Today, we’re going over their benefits and what style suits your project best.
Bar Sinks: The Basics
What are the defining characteristics of bar sinks?
Typically, bar sinks are purposely smaller, so they take up less countertop space. This leaves more room for bartending.
Bar sinks are usually installed in a separate area, like an entertainment room. If they’re used in the kitchen, they usually take a spot on an island away from the main sink.
What are the typical uses for bar sinks?
While you’re preparing food or washing dishes with your regular sink, it’s useful to have a separate sink with one sole purpose: drink preparation. Instead of using a bulky cooler, keep drinks chilled by filling the sink with ice. When it's time to clean up, your champagne glasses, mugs, and other fragile glasses stay away from hefty pots and pans.
What Materials Should You Pick?
Traditionally, homeowners have opted for stainless steel for their bar sinks. By nature, stainless steel is sleek and easy to clean, so we understand the allure. Yet we have another option for those who want something different: granite composite. While both styles are antimicrobial, durable, and heat resistant, they each bring separate benefits.
Stainless Steel Bar Sink Benefits
Timeless Cassic: Its sleek surface pairs well with a variety of design styles.
More Options Available: Pelican’s stainless steel bar sink line features a variety of depths and sizes to match your counterspace.
Long-Lasting: Scratch-resistant and rust-free, this is a perfect choice for busy commercial or residential spaces.
Granite Composite Bar Sink Benefits
Rich Hues: If you want a pop of color, a granite composite sink is a great way to draw attention to your sink.
Noise Reduction: Granite composite’s material helps dampen sound, keeping clattering to a minimum.
Mimics Natural Stone: The look and feel of granite without its hefty price tag.

Tip: 16 vs. 18 gauge. What’s the difference? 16 gauge is thicker. While both gauges are truly durable, a thicker material enhances its strength.
What about radiuses? Radius refers to the angle, or curve, of the sink. Zero radius sinks have straight edges and are flat on the bottom. Low radius sinks have slight, rounded corners instead of sharper edges.
