The Benefits of Sink Insulation

Why Is Sink Insulation So Important?

When it comes time to freshen up a kitchen, changing out the sink is probably one of your top priorities. And while finding one that matches the tone of the kitchen is important, there's one crucial detail that might turn your dream sink into a headache: missing sink insulation.

Sink insulation is the difference between a calm kitchen and one that's overwhelmed with noise. But what is it, exactly?

Sink insulation is the process of adding sound-reducing materials to the sink itself. This can be done in the fabrication process, while the sink is actually being constructed, or after the fact, with materials gathered yourself. While there are some tutorials that walk you through that process online, we highly recommend choosing a sink that has this feature already installed by professionals. This way, you don't have to worry about adding those components on your own, and ensure you're receiving the best-quality sound reduction possible.

Pelican's stainless steel sinks are constructed with two sound deadening barriers. The first is a specialized sound deadening coating. This is applied on the bottom of the sink, creating a fortified layer that absorbs sound. The coating also helps regulate water temperature and deflects condensation build-up, which are both major conveniences--saving you time and frustration later on.

The second way we provide sound-reduction is through sound-deadening pads. These are affixed on around the sink bowl, placed on the bottom and the sides. This helps muffle sound, so you don't have to worry about clattering dishes and silverware amplified in the kitchen.

Now that you have an understanding of sink insulation, we hope we've made the process of narrowing down your sinks easier. Need additional advice? Our team of experts is here to provide support. Get in touch today and let's help tackle your next project!
