Unveiling the Metropolitan Collection XL

AN IN-DEPTH LOOK AT OUR LATEST FLOORING

2025 brings huge updates to Pelican Int'l, with one of them being a brand-new vinyl flooring series: the Metropolitan Collection XL. Inspired by the thrill and grandeur of bustling cities, these twelve fresh styles brings contemporary wonder to kitchens and baths. Today, we're exploring the collection's benefits for your builds.

The Rise of Larger Flooring

In recent years, we've noticed a trend in clients wanting larger luxury vinyl flooring planks for their projects. While the typical 7" x 48" size works well for a variety of builders, there are definite advantages to choosing extra-large vinyl flooring.

9" x 60" planks give any room a more modern appeal. Larger planks make the area more spacious--and eye-catching. The Metropolitan series mimics natural wood, capturing vivid tones and colors beautifully. Because the planks are larger, it's easier to see these details and appreciate them at a bigger scale.

Seamless Transitions

Some flooring styles feature gaps between the planks. While this might not be noticeable at first, the slightest rivets might seem like an eyesore later on. The Metropolitan series features painted beveled edges. This reduces the seams between each plank, providing a smooth transition across the room.

Uniclic Technology for Hassle-Free Installation

The Metro series is classified as "floating" flooring, which means it doesn't use glue adhesives to secure it to the floor. However, the series is still secure thanks to utilizing an innovative installation system. Uniclic technology interlocks planks together, preventing them from shifting or buckling underfoot.

Less movement also means less noise. Uniclic helps limit creaking noises that are typical for other flooring types and materials. This, in turn, helps the space remain peaceful even under the strain of heavy foot traffic.

Benefits of Rigid Core Flooring

Solstone flooring boasts a resilient rigid core, and the same is true for the Metropolitan series. Due to its construction, the core adds extra resiliency to the flooring overall, providing dimensional stability. Dimensional stability is good scale to use to determine if the flooring will easily shift around once under repeated use--or temperature changes. Because the Metropolitan series has plenty of dimensional stability, it remains secure even under harsh conditions.

The rigid core helps preserve the overall appearance as well. It protects against scratches, dents, and other blemishes that might plague other flooring material.

Solstone Exclusive Wear Layers

The Metropolitan collection boasts two special layers that are unique to the Solstone brand: UltraShield and DiamondDust. Our 20mil planks utilize UltraShield. This protective layer is an added defense against wear and tear, stains, and water absorption.

We've added DiamondDust to our 22mil planks, which is an even more robust solution for areas that might encounter heavier foot traffic and repetitive daily use. These solutions provide a safeguard, supplying even more security within their luxury vinyl planks versus standard vinyl flooring.
